Apologies for the delayed post. I have been away on a staycation and took this opportunity to explore the local eateries in the Cotswold area.

The experience was eye opening due to being locked up for months – finally get to go out and play.

There are mixed feelings about what I ate so thought I would share with you and review two dishes which I felt deserved to be shared

The first image is a 5-star rating from myself. It was surprisingly amazing. I could have just eaten this as starter, main and dessert as it tasted so good. It was a freshly baked pretzel with a craft beer based cheese dip. It might not sound like they would go. But I was totally proven wrong and it left me wanting more. I still dream about it and feel like something I might explore myself in my weekly bakes in my own way. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has a Brewhouse and Kitchen near them! They had a great selection of local brewed ales and lagers to which we could not resist and bought 2 mini kegs back as they also tantalised the tastebuds! The Brewhouse and Kitchen in Gloucester is a must visit if you are hungry for hearty food, amazing ales (some brewed on site!) and cocktails.

On the other hand… I then had something which I would never want to eat again for a different restaurant.

The second picture gets a 0-star rating from myself based on the dessert only. It was an Oreo cheesecake which sounds amazing right…. WRONG! Its execution was everything that could go wrong with a cheesecake to me. The base was soggy, I mean who likes a soggy bottom? It was not even an Oreo base for one. The cheesecake itself was not pleasant to eat. I was hoping for chunks of Oreo within the cheesecake. But instead I got a grey/brown slab of tasteless goo. Honestly, it was not pleasant. I could not even finish it…and I never normally leave a plate with food. But each mouthful made me want to gag. It did not look pleasant. In all honesty it looked like someone ate a slab of cheesecake and a pack of Oreos then regurgitated it out into a tin to cut up and serve.

This was a shame. We visited here for our 4 year wedding anniversary as its steaks are highly recommended. It was a steakhouse called The Falcon steakhouse in Wotton-Under-Edge. The steaks were perfect. I actually thought the wine we had was corked as it was not pleasant to drink but was told it was the way it should be… If I were basing it on the steak alone it would be 5-star (it was so good) but unfortunately the dessert and wine really brought the whole experience down. The Falcon Steakhouse overall would get 3-star rating.
